Trouvaille Workshop: Part I

Holy gorgeousness!

This past April I had the most amazing opportunity to attend the Trouvaille Workshop hosted by the ever-so-talented Rhiannon Bosse, owner and principle wedding planner at Hey Gorgeous Events.  Let me preface by saying this: if you are an entrepreneur and interested in attending a workshop to expand your knowledge within the wedding industry, then look no further than Trouvaille.  I can honestly say that this workshop was the most valuable investment I have made so far in my career.  Rhi designed Trouvaille to be a comprehensive experience where young aspiring entrepreneurs within the wedding industry can be inspired to grow and succeed with their newly established businesses.  Between the pivotal speeches, impeccably designed soirees, floral and tablescape design sessions, and swoon-worthy gifts and swag, I couldn’t help feeling confident, inspired and loved.

Before even arriving, Rhi showered us with love and gifts. A couple of months prior to the workshop, each of us received little calligraphed mailers filled with delicate paper invitations and flower corsages to wear at the black and white dinner Rhi had planned for the first evening.

Upon arrival at the Amway Grand Hotel, we were greeted with strawberry champagne cocktails (complete with blush and white striped paper straws) and hugs from our hostess. As a side note, can I just say that when I met Rhi, I was starstruck? Now you have to remember, at this point in time I had been following this young entrepreneur on Facebook and Instagram for almost two years, in addition to reading her blog faithfully. Never in my life did I imagine that one day this woman who gave me the inspiration and kick in the pants to stop waiting and start doing was going to be teaching me some of her secrets in person, punctuated with multiple hugs along the way! One word: starstruck.  Anyways, after we introduced ourselves to Rhi we all searched for our seats.  We “ooo-ed” and “ahh-ed” over the gold and white striped notebooks, class materials and fresh blooms waiting for us at our places.

After a heart-warming welcome from Rhi, we intently listened to an inspiring speech given by guest speaker Jodi Bos from In Any Event. Jodi spoke about the importance of determining what it is that we love about our careers, and never losing sight of that love. She openly shared her successes and failures, not only in regards to her small business but also in her own personal life. Our careers and small businesses may present us with many offshoots and possibilities, but she earnestly drove the point home that we have to use our hearts to determine what truly fires us up.  Essentially, we must stay true to our dreams.

Then we hurried back to our rooms and glammed up for our black and white (with a hint of gold) dinner party at San Chez Bistro in downtown Grand Rapids. This adorable dinner party gave us all an opportunity to establish new, long lasting friendships while enjoying great food and great conversation with industry professionals from all areas within our industry. From the delicious sangria, to the abundance of tapas, the elegant floral arrangements filled with Juliet and garden roses, to the salted caramel favors from the Caramel Jar, the night couldn’t have been more perfect.

Stay tuned for a post about all the fun on the second day of the workshop. In the meantime, if anyone is interested in purchasing a ticket for this amazing workshop, head over to the Trouvaille website for more information and the link to snag your ticket!
