If you’re dreaming of a boho chic wedding, look no further than this wedding right here for your inspiration! AYE couple Hilary and Clay were married this past September in Stowe, Vermont at the gorgeous Edson Hill Resort, a stunning hidden gem that looks like Joanna Gaines had a hand in designing all of the guest rooms. The details of this AYE designed wedding could not have been dreamier with elements such as a sublime watercolor wedding brand by Li Ward, rich hued florals including a fairytale arch and pampas grass arrangements by Nectar and Root, a cream colored VW bus photobooth, alternating tablescapes of garlands with sandstone taper candles and golden trough vessels overflowing with blooms and foraged greens, the bride’s horse wearing a bloom filled wreath roaming in the pasture as guests arrived and the effortless beauty of our bride (whose doppleganger is 100% Margo Robbie) in a long sleeve lace a line gown.
Along with all the beauty of this celebration, I loved the heart and bit of tenacity that went into making this wedding true to the couple through and through. At Always Yours Events, it is my goal to bring to life my couple’s wedding vision and exceed their expectations, while at the same time creating a design that is remarkable and magical because it tells their story as a couple and undeniably speaks to who they are above all else — therein lies the true purpose of why I named this beloved brand and company Always Yours. When H+C booked with Always Yours Events, they had originally chosen (and placed a deposit on) a venue other than Edson Hill. When we visited their first chosen venue in Maine, it was lovely and I could see the couple’s design within the space. But I could tell that Hilary kept having moments of pause as we chatted about where the first dance would take place, how the ceremony had to be set up, how guest accommodations would be far from the venue, etc. I could just sense it wasn’t quite feeling “right.” It wasn’t more than a week after we returned home after our site visit that I got an excited call from Hilary saying that she and her mom had taken a much needed trip to one of her favorite places in the world (Stowe, VT) and had found her dream wedding venue. While in Stowe, they had visited Edson Hill, a newly refurbished and impeccably redesigned boutique resort on a small lake with the ability to host all guests on site for a tented wedding in an open field. It checked every single box for Hilary and Clay, and after a little bit of rearranging Edson Hill became their home for their wedding.
Hilary and Clay bought out the entire property for a late Summer wedding weekend, and we brought in a sailcloth tent for the wedding reception. To capture the day, we flew in the talented photographer Autumn Nicole and the incredible videography team Allison and Tyler of Happy Camper Films. The design of the wedding featured rich shades of red, burgundy and navy mixed with earth tone shades such as sandstone, dusty rose, soft taupe, beige and golden mustard. The ceremony took place under an overgrown greenery arch adorned with flowers in all the shades of the color palette. The bridesmaids were a vision in various styles of gowns in an oatmeal shade carrying hand gathered bouquets filled with bloom of dozen of varieties, while the groomsmen wore navy suits, wine colored ties and textural boutonnieres.
Hilary in her ethereal gown and statement bouquet met Clay in the forest for their first look. After, the couple made their way to the pasture to spend some time with an unexpected friend from Virginia.
When guests arrived, they were greeted by Hilary’s sweet horse (driven all the way up from Virginia) roaming in the pasture with a stunning collar of garden roses and greens. After the ceremony an al fresco cocktail hour under the trees began with the sounds of 90s tunes sung by a bluegrass style began — this was truly as epic and amazing as it sounds. We booked a cream vintage VW bus as a photobooth, and my only regret is that I didn’t have the chance to get a photo in it before the end of the night!
When guests entered the tent, they were wowed by an escort card installation of a macrame wall on a vintage rug flanked by massive pampas grass arrangements. Tables were a mix of farm tables with greenery garlands and various taper candles in brass holders, and round tables covered in natural flax linen by La Tavola fine linen with a golden trough arrangement filled with romantic, colorful blooms. The head table was the statement of the tent with a “living” garland of blooms running along the table with a plethora of candles in between. Each place setting featured beautifully clever and illustrated menu cards by Li Ward. H+C in crossback chairs with custom macrame chair covers.
A key focal point within the tent design was a statement dessert bar set with a macrame runner with North Country cakes, donuts and assorted desserts. Next to dessert was a favor station including custom bottles of local Vermont maple syrup tied with Hilary and Clay’s custom crest by Li Ward, which matched the wedding invitations perfectly.
The entire night was filled with the sounds of the Grift Band. And the newlyweds ended the night with the perfectly captured sparkler send off.
H + C, your wedding could not have been more extraordinary and more true to you as a couple. Every aspect of the day was a dream, and it is safe to say that it was an unparalleled celebration filled with sentiment and magic. Wishing you all my love in this next beautiful chapter of your lives together.
xoxo, K
